Dark Beauty Castle: Based on Cinderella’s castle, this used to be Oswald’s home, but following the monster attack, it became the Mad Doctor’s lair. Cartoon Wasteland’s locations are inspired by former Disneyland rides, old Disney shorts and feature films, current Disneyland locations, etc. Then there are also things like over-sized mushrooms and teacups or huge waterfalls and grotto. It’s a throwback to the era in which the forgotten characters were created. There are pipes, pulleys, projectors, vapor boats, dioramas. The general aesthetic of this world is like a surrealist steampunk wonderland. Others: the magic brooms from Fantasia, Hook’s pirate crew, the lonesome ghosts, etc. Mizrabel: This forgotten villain from the 1990 video game Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is the antagonist who kidnaps characters in the 3DS companion game. They were small creatures who helped the British fight the Nazis. Their Disney origin is that they were created by Roald Dahl in 1943 for a Disney film that never came to be. Gremlins: The Gremlins appear throughout Cartoon Wasteland in various roles. These animatronics “live” in Cartoon Wasteland. He builds animatronics, including animatronic versions of popular Disney characters like Donald, Daisy and Goofy. The Mad Doctor: This forgotten villain from a 1933 short sided with the monster. (Fun fact: they re-appeared in the 2013 short Get a Horse! (image below).) Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, Pete: These fellow forgotten cartoon animals were Oswald and Ortensia’s neighbors and friends in Cartoon Wasteland before the monster attack. He was forgotten soon after his conception in favor of Mickey so he became the first inhabitant of Cartoon Wasteland and was its king until the monster attack. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: Oswald was Walt Disney’s first character, before Mickey. There is a 3DS companion game in which a villain captures popular Disney characters from the movies ( Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Tangled, etc.). Rumors said it was going to take place in Toon World and have more musical numbers. There was supposed to be a third Epic Mickey game, but Disney shut down the project. 
He plans on broadcasting himself into Toon World (presumably because he’s jealous of the popular characters) and he gets a fantastic musical number. There’s a decoy antagonist, but in the end, it turns out to be the Mad Doctor’s fault. Mickey and Oswald team up to investigate the source of these mysterious earthquakes. In the sequel, “earthquakes” threaten to destroy Cartoon Wasteland again. He sets out to restore Cartoon Wasteland to its original state and regain its inhabitants’ trust. Years later, Mickey enters Cartoon Wasteland and sees what he caused. The monster destroys Cartoon Wasteland and begins a rule of terror. One day, Mickey unknowingly unleashes a monster into Cartoon Wasteland. Mickey Mouse is the leader of Toon World and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is the leader of Cartoon Wasteland. The popular Disney characters live in Toon World and the lesser-known Disney characters live in Cartoon Wasteland. It’s not gritty, it’s just surrealist and layered, like a Dali painting of an alternate Disney world.
